About Me

My Background

I grew up in Melbourne, Florida. I started out as a musician, playing trumpet professionally. Eventually I got more interested in software, and shifted my focus to game development. I wanted to learn all aspects of it so I could lead my own studio effectively. I did this while working full time and going to school for my degree. Now, I run Silica, and am working on the vertical slice for a sci-fi RPG.

What I Do For Work

I handle most aspects of development at Silica. On the software side I design and build gameplay systems, developer tooling, and content pipelines. On the artistic side, I do 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, level design and asset design. I also handle bigger picture tasks like sourcing and working with concept artists, and working with sound designers and composers.

My focus is to keep building Silica until I can hire a full team and lead both the studio and the project forward. Most of my work is done in Unreal Engine, where the majority of my experience and expertise lies.

What I Do For Fun

3D Printing: I design and 3D print custom objects to help around the house and other applications.

Gardening: I grow dragon fruit, Black Pearl peppers, and many types of succulents from seed. I recently designed and built a custom dragon fruit trellis.

Music: I’ve played trumpet since I was 9 years old. Aside from playing the trumpet, I love creating music and particularly enjoy sound design.

Drawing: I enjoy drawing and sketching, mostly sci-fi robots and scenes.

Video Games: I love playing with friends and family. My all time favorites are probably Hunt: Showdown, Ark, FTL, and SWG.

Outdoors: I enjoy going outside and touching grass occasionally. I’m an Eagle scout, and particularly enjoy water based activities.
